"It was a fitting end to the Alberta Luge Championships.
John Gibson was hoisted on the shoulders and carried to the podium by fellow national team members Kaj Johnson and Greg Jones.
It wasn’t just because Gibson had managed to beat his teammates on his way to gold in the senior men’s division. The show of appreciation was also because Gibson had organized the tournament, giving the group of 16 natural luge racers a rare chance to compete against each other.
